Wedding Stationery Basics

From the invitation suite to the day-of pieces, wedding stationery can get pretty complicated!
Here’s an overview of the pieces you may want to include in your wedding invitation and day-of stationery.

Invitation Pieces

BASICS

INVITATION

The invitation contains all of the necessary information about your wedding; who’s getting married, where and when.

REPLY CARD

The reply card will be sent back to you; it has a place for guests’ names and will indicate if they will be attending your wedding.

INSERT CARD

An insert card can be included to provide additional details about the event. This could be accommodation information, directions, or reception details. The insert card is usually a bit larger or equal size than the reply card depending how much information you would like to add.

ENVELOPES

EXTRAS

ENVELOPE LINERS

Envelope liners are a great way to add a fun pop of color and pattern to your invitation, and elevate the entire suite. Liners come assembled into envelopes.

BELLY BANDS

Patterned belly bands also add color and wrap your invite pieces all together for an elegant look – to use a belly band, you simply wrap it around the invitation suite (excluding the invitation envelope) and adhere it in the back with a small piece of double-sided tape to hold it all together, before sliding the wrapped cards into the envelope.

DAY-OF BASICS

PROGRAM

Programs feature the couple’s names and ceremony date, as well as an overview of the ceremony and names of the wedding party. Some couples include a thank you message to guests or a favorite quote as well.

MENU

Menus are often provided at each place setting. This can be especially helpful for any guests with food allergies, and makes a great keepsake.

ESCORT / PLACE CARD

Escort cards are printed with the guests’ name and table number and are usually arranged all together on a table at the reception. Placecards are similar, but are placed at each guest’s individual seat at each table.

EVENTS CARD

If you’ll be providing guests with a welcome bag upon arrival, it’s a great idea to include an events card in the bag! An events card is the perfect opportunity to let guests know about casual events happening during the wedding weekend.

Other pieces might include signage for a guest book, photo booth or bar area, table numbers, favor tags, thank you cards and more.
